Bolar Flat Day Use Area at Lake Moomaw Closed for Public Health and Safety
The dock at the Bolar Flat Marina at Lake Moomaw was damaged during the recent storms and the Bolar Flat Day Use Area is now closed for public safety until repairs can be completed. Boaters on Lake Moomaw are cautioned to avoid approaching the marina from the lake side. We do not have an estimate at this time of how long it will take to secure the facilities. Grindstone camping limited in 2022
Grindstone Campground, located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, will offer limited camping options over the next several years as managers work to plan, decommission and replace the current wastewater system. In 2022, the Opossum Loop of Grindstone Campground is open with 20 sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. A port-a-john will be available, but water will not be available. Temp Closure: Rocky Run ATV trail, Second Mountain, Long Run Road
The Rocky Run ATV trail in Rockingham County, The Rocky Run ATV trail in Rockingham County, including Second Mountain Road %3AForest Road #502%3A, is temporarily closed. The southeast portion of Long Run Road %3AForest Road #72%3A is also temporarily closed. These areas will be intermittently closed over the next several months as project work continues on the 500 kilovolt electricity transmission line.
